A White Hole

A White Hole is the time-reverse version of a black hole. Instead of matter falling into a white hole, it is spewed from the singularity. The White Hole is a ramification of Einstein´s General Theory of Relativity and is still being investigated by scientists.

A shadow of doubt

Although most people refute that Faster-than-Light travel is possible, there are some things that can surpass the speed of light in a vacuum: A shadow hitting a wall at an oblique angle, and the spot of a laser pointed at the surface of the moon.

Tricky travel

One way to travel faster than light? Slow light down. Light naturally travels slower in transparent medium such as water or glass than it does in a vacuum.

A fourth state of matter?

If you´ve only heard of three states of matter (solid, liquid and gas), then you´re behind the times. In the middle 1990s, physicists at the University of Colorado at Boulder created a new state of matter, which only exists at temperatures just above absolute zero. So far the only place they´ve seen the super-dense matter is in the laboratory, but it is speculated that this matter exists naturally somewhere in the universe.
